                                              El Salvador National Activities
 
From Feb 28 to March 11, El Salvador was host to a National Coaches Workshop and a Players Camp.
These activities took place in the new 6 courts facility of the National Association at Polvorin Sports Complex.
During 5 days 10 local coaches took part of the activities, which were on and off court as well as multimedia presentations.

Following this activity came the Players camp for which 17 young players took part, and with very high motivation they fulfilled  the program together with their Coaches. Congratulations to FESALBAD on their new facility and their different projects around the country.

Badminton por la Paz

“Badminton Por la Paz” is a three year project that uses Badminton as a tool for peace, education and social (re)integration of displaced youth, vulnerable youth living in impoverished areas, and vulnerable youth living in guerilla affected areas in Columbia.

Last week saw the training of Youth Centre Leaders by BWF expert coaches and this week a series of inaugurations took place in various communities in Columbian cities.

Pan Am Championships crowned in Curitiba

Ending an exciting week of Badminton at Clube Curitibano, in which the 1st ParaBadminton Continental event was held, on Sunday 24 after the finals, presentations were made.
Cee Ketpura was the new Champion beating Michelle Lee from Canada. Great year for Cee, who earlier this year was also the #1 Continental representative for Singapur YOG, very promising future. In the Men's side, Canadian Stephan Wojcikiewicz was the Champion, for the second time, by beating Rodrigo Pacheco from Peru.
Men doubles new champions Vincent Nguy and Sam Gunatileka from USA beat local pair of Hugo Arthuso and Daniel Paiola in an exciting match, and in an all Canadian Women Doubles, Grace Gao and Joycelyn Ko beat Alex Bruce and Michelle Li. All these matches went to three games before we had a Champion.
The Mixed Doubles went to favourite Canadian pair of Toby Ng and Grace Gao beating in two games their team mates Kevin Li and Alex Bruce.

The 2010 Pan Am Championships conclude this weekend in Curitiba Brazil after a busy and successful week of sport, culture and development activities. This weeks event was special for another reason - the successful hosting of the first official Continental Parabadminton Championships in Pan America. The Parabadminton Championships were integrated with the Pan Am Championships and it demonstrates that parabadminton is now an important part of that region and the sport is now well established in Asia, Europe and Pan America. This is an important step forward for the development of the game.

PanAmChapionship2010

Great matches were seen today at Clube Curitibano! The day began with Canada taking the tie against Mexico (3-0) and USA beat Peru with score of 3-1. For the 5th place the local team of Brazil beat Chile 3-0

The final was set for the evening after the Opening Ceremony with important guests in attendance, between Canada and USA! The defending Team Chamnpion for the last years, Canada was sucessful in retaining their title by the score of 3-1. Peru this time got the 3rd position by beating the young team from Mexico by the score of 3-1
